Wow, how interesting that Michael Johns’ We Are The Champions is playing in the background while I write this post. It wasn’t intentional, by the way.
But back to the topic at hand, a big hats off the the Malaysian under-23 football team – the Harimau Malaysia – for beating Vietnam 1-0 in the finals of the South East Asian Games (SEA Games) yesterday. It was a 20-year wait so it has been a long time coming. They even beat defending champions and favourites Thailand en route to the victory!
Of course, congratulations to the rest of the Malaysian contingent who won the other 39 Gold medals so far as well!
Anyway, if you’d like to join me in congratulating the Malaysian football team, Nike Malaysia has set up two walls at its flagship stores in Pavilion KL and MidValley Megamall from today onwards where you can leave your wishes and notes.
These structures should be up for a couple of weeks and then presented to FAM and the national team.
I think it’s great that people have faith in our athletes again (because the teams really, er, sucked previously) and hopefully this under-23 will take this victory in stride and motivate them to higher success. *fingers crossed*
Congratulations again to the Malaysian Tigers!
