Congratulate the Harimau Malaysia – Malaysian football team

Wow, how interesting that Michael Johns’ We Are The Champions is playing in the background while I write this post. It wasn’t intentional, by the way.

Congratulatory wall

But back to the topic at hand, a big hats off the the Malaysian under-23 football team – the Harimau Malaysia – for beating Vietnam 1-0 in the finals of the South East Asian Games (SEA Games) yesterday. It was a 20-year wait so it has been a long time coming. They even beat defending champions and favourites Thailand en route to the victory!

Of course, congratulations to the rest of the Malaysian contingent who won the other 39 Gold medals so far as well!

Anyway, if you’d like to join me in congratulating the Malaysian football team, Nike Malaysia has set up two walls at its flagship stores in Pavilion KL and MidValley Megamall from today onwards where you can leave your wishes and notes.

These structures should be up for a couple of weeks and then presented to FAM and the national team.

I think it’s great that people have faith in our athletes again (because the teams really, er, sucked previously) and hopefully this under-23 will take this victory in stride and motivate them to higher success. *fingers crossed*

Congratulations again to the Malaysian Tigers!

Yea man. A job well done to the national team, who have proved their citics and doubters wrong alike. However, let’s hope they keep their feet on earth and don’t get too carried away as the road to total redemption is all but at its baby phase.

This is the result when you separate this junior team from the senior players. I hope FAM will keep this team together and not put them with the senior players who are often bad influence on our young, talented players.

We do have young talented players but they get terribly spoilt once they mix around with the senior players.

Plus, these young players are actually smarter than the senior players. They could adapt to change of strategy better than their seniors.

In fact, all male babies in the country today should be trained to be football intellects and perhaps, in 20 years time, we’ll be playing in World Cup!
