Update: MSNBC reports that Brittany may have died of natural causes, according to the Los Angeles’ coroner’s office. An autopsy is being scheduled to confirm the cause of her death. Hopefully this will stop rumours that her death was caused by drug overdose, as so-called gossip queen (try sower of hatred!) Perez Hilton has insinuated on his blog post. Apparently, he had predicted her death to drug abuse a month ago. What a horrible man!
I woke up this morning to a phone call from my friend Ann Marie Chandy (ex-colleague as well) telling me that Abdul Rahman Senin (or Amigo, as he was fondly called) had passed away last night due to a heart attack. Amigo was a photographer at The Star who leaves behind his wife and eight children. The Star reports it here.
Because of that, I came online to look for the story – I was told it was in today’s papers – and also found out that 2009 has claimed another celebrity, this time the 32-year-old Brittany Murphy.
I remember her most from Clueless, but I really enjoyed her performance in 8 Mile (alongside Eminem) as well.
News of her death, which only broke abouta couple of hours ago I read, has shocked Hollywood, and many stars have Tweeted their reactions and condolences. MTV has compiled some of them here.
It is believed that Brittany died from cardiac arrest, and one report said that she was found unconscious in the shower.
The Washington Post has a nice picture retrospective of her career.
Rest in Peace Amigo, Brittany.
